The young man with the horn Bix Beiderbecke (1903-1931) was the first white jazz musician to achieve greatness. He died at the height of his powers aged just 28, but his legacy of dazzling cornet playing can be savoured in At The Jazz Band Ball, with jazz masterpieces such as Davenport Blues and of course Singin' The Blues (N.B.
