Lew Stone led one of the top British dance bands of the 1930s and it's still regarded as one of the very finest of that golden era. This CD evokes the spirit of Stone's celebrated band during its vintage years, offering a cross-section of the always enjoyable Stone material, both sweet and hot, often in his own innovative arrangements. He had the pick of the best British band vocalists of the day, notable Al Bowlly, Sam Browne and Sam Costa. Sentimental ballads aside, the band could really play hot jazz as shown in the songs "Blue Jazz, White Jazz" and "Milneburg Joys".
