(*) Denotes tunes from The 1954 San DIego concert which marked the last appearance of the Gerry Mulligan Quartet for some time- and the birth of the fabulous Gerry Mulligan Sextet. After spending some time in California, Gerry relocated to New York in early 1955. The purpose being to fully concentrate on the music he was writing for a new endeavor. By the end of August he embarked on a tour as the leader of his new sextet. The arrangements swing loosely and are accented characteristically by lean linerarity rather than lust harmonies.
