A COUPLE OF SONG & DANCE MEN | |
Description:
A Couple Of Song & Dance Men is possibly a modest title for what is in effect a compendium of all the most celebrated of those versatile entertainers that have delighted millions on stage and screen. Fred Astaire of course leads the parade of 19 great hoofer singers, from the earliest, Jack Buchanan partnering Gertrude Lawrence, through Bojangles himself, Bill Robinson, and Gene Kelly Singin’ In The Rain . . ., to Sammy Davis Jr., with many other famous artistes along the way. Sadly two of the number have died over the past year, Donald O’Connor and Ann Miller. Yes, although the title says ‘Men’, the selection does naturally include the top ladies too: Judy Garland, Eleanor Powell and Ginger Rogers |
