EDEN'S ISLAND: THE MUSIC OF AN ENCHANTED ISLE | |
Description:
How much of a character was Eden Ahbez? After Nat King Cole scored big with Ahbez’s song 'Nature Boy', Capitol had to track him down just to pay the songwriting royalties, the rights to which he then ended up giving away. Indeed, Ahbez was one of the world’s first true hippies, living on a commune in 1959, from which he emerged to record this album—a bona fide cult classic—with Stan Kenton alumnus Paul Moer. Ahbez chants his song poems and plays his wooden flute over Moer’s exotic orchestrations while producer Bob Keane sprinkles in sound effects and a chorus of "island girls." |
