THE BACK BAY RAMBLERS

CUTTIN' UP

Description:
Comprised of top trad musicians from Boston and New York, the Back Bay Ramblers is an octet/nonet that plays hot dance and jazz numbers from the late 1920s/early '30s. This Stomp Off release has such superior obscurities as "Raisin' the Roof," "I Want You Just Myself," "Coal Yard Shuffle," and "Corky Stomp." The musicians which include cornetist Jon Erik Kellso, Billy Novick, and John Clark on reeds, trombonist Bob Connors, and Vince Giordano on tuba, string bass, and bass sax perfectly understand the music of the era and how to be creative within the genre. Karen Cameron, who has vocals on five numbers, is an additional strong asset.
