CHARLIE BARNET

Description:
The band had lost its complete music library and instruments in a fire in October 1939. Strange enough, this catastrophe turned out to be lucky since Count Basie and Benny Goodman generously lent Barnet arrangements to get his band and career back on its feet. Trumpet player and arranger Billy May was also very busy writing new material. The enclosed tracks show that by mid 1940, Barnet's big band had not only recovered from this shock but were playing better than ever.
