2 CD set. Legendary band leader/pianist Count Basie is truly just that, a legend in the world of jazz. Super Chief was originally issued as a two record set in 1972. It contains 28 classic recordings of the Count with various incarnations recorded between 1936 & 1942. These recordings are with various bands including those of Mildred Bailey, Harry James, Teddy Wilson plus, of course, Basie's own band. Musicians appearing on these recordings include Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Jimmy Rushing, Harry Edison, Helen Humes, Buck Clayton and many, many more. This two CD set is the first time this album has appeared on compact disc!
