TEX BENEKE

WITH THE GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA IN 1948 / TEX BENEKE & HIS ORCHESTRA IN 1952

Description:
The first broadcast on this record takes Tex back to the Cafe Rouge of what was known as the Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City. Tex may not be leading the Glenn Miller Band on this broadcast of February 1952 but the band does sound very "Millerish" on several titles. For the second half of the record we go back to mid 1948 when Tex was leading the Glenn Miller Orchestra with a string section and we hear a broadcast from Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook Club in Cedar Grove, NJ. The guest singer is Peggy Mann.
