RUBY BRAFF / GEORGE BARNES

TO FRED ASTAIRE WITH LOVE

Description:
Ruby Braff and George Barnes formed a rich and vital partnership, recording seven studio albums between 1973 and 1975. This set presents their first and last works, two complete studio albums by the Ruby Braff George Barnes Quartet in their entirety. Both appear here on CD for the first time ever and are devoted to the perennial classics by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerome Kern, plus one original by each soloist and a swing ballad treatment of the Beatles's tune 'Here, There and Everywhere'. Their first album, titled 'The Ruby Braff George Barnes Quartet' 1973 includes a mixture of standard songs, plus an original by each of the soloists. For their last album together, 'To Fred Astaire with Love' 1975 featured versions of songs the singer dancer actor had made famous in his movies.
