THE CARTER FAMILY
CAN THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN | |
Description:
2 CD set. One of the most famous families in country music can be heard here performing early tracks from their impressive musical career. The best of the Carter Family's legacy is represented here, including "Storms Are On The Ocean," the now familiar "Bury Me Under The Weeping Willow Tree," their theme tune "Keep On The Sunny Side" and "Wildwood Flower", reprised on Joan Baez's 1960 debut album. Songs like "Little Darling Pal Of Mine" and "Jimmy Brown The Newsboy" a Flatt & Scruggs favorite became bluegrass standards. Also from 1930, "Worried Man Blues" was to become closely associated with Woody Guthrie. "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" was reprised by Elvis Presley in 1961 and the Victorian lyrics of "You Are My Flower" also epitomized their unadorned style. |
