BOB CHESTER

AND HIS ORCHESTRA

CHESTER'S CHOICE

Description:
Not the best known of band leaders, Bob Chester was unusual in that his wealthy background meant playing tenor sax and leading a band was more of a hobby than a working necessity. For a while under the wing of Tommy Dorsey and with a band sounding similar to Glenn Miller, Bob made a suitable impression in his home town of Detroit and beyond, but he never achieved huge commercial success despite recording prolifically and being regularly heard on the radio. This 24 track compilation shows Bob leading a tight, remarkably hot dance band in the early 1940s with vocalist Dolores O'Neill.
