What you hear on this CD is the band as it sounded to German audiences except that on the first 9 numbers capable German banjoist Peter Hunck replaces Disley who had returned to the UK. Towards the end of their residency, extended by another two months when they opened a new Bier Bar in Hamburg, the local radio station, NDR, recorded them live, complete with skiffle group, in front of an audience. Until now these tracks have never been heard outside of Germany. There is a typical blend of Ne Orleans standards together with skiffle numbers. Also included are five extra tracks, believed to have been recorded live at the New Orleans Bier Bar. These rare recordings represent a significant link in the Colyer discography. Here is an opportunity to witness the genesis of what was to become known affectionately as the 'classic' Colyer front line, unrivalled in its almost telepathic ensemble approach.
