CLASSIC YEARS, VOLUME 2 | |
Description:
Recorded at Eel Pie Island on May 30th, 1957. Playng hot New Orleans music is like walking a tight rope, you daren't slip, but the odds slips are bound to happen, they are worth taking the risk for though, and it is far more rewarding than playing the cardboard music that passes for jazz. Jazz is a small club music, always was and always will be. Though a band may play well in concert it will rarely build the atmosphere that it can achieve in a club that is conducive to the music. It doesn't matter with cardboard music but is vitally important to the creation of good music. This band is considered by many to be the best Ken Coyler has ever had. This is possibly true but Ken Coyler has always strived to get the best out of the men around him and produce a good unit sound. |
