AND SOME JAZZ FRIENDS

Description:
On an occasional basis through the years, Bing Crosby recorded in Dixieland and swing oriented settings. This fine CD collects 20 selections on which he is heard teaming up with various jazz all stars. Among his musical partners are Louis Jordan, Connie Boswell, Louis Armstrong "Pennies From Heaven" and "Gone Fishin'", Lionel Hampton, Lee Wiley, Woody Herman, brother Bob Crosby and the Eddie Condon gang. Particularly delightful is "The Waiter and the Porter and the Upstairs Maid," a Johnny Mercer number from the film Birth of the Blues that co stars Jack Teagarden and Mary Martin. Overall, a particularly enjoyable release.
