Description:
The South African born drummer Joe Daniels 1909 1993 gained great popularity through the showmanship he always displayed in fronting his Hot Shots, but in the early 50s he formed a Jazz Group with the object of presenting Dixieland jazz, pure and simple and seldom has it ever sounded more joyful and exuberant! Thanks to access to rare 78s owned by original band member, guitarist Nevil Skrimshire, and others, Living Era has been able to produce this vibrant Joe Daniels Jazz Group collection a major CD first of British jazz. Joe Daniels was the catalyst for bringing together many of the finest traditional players on the scene, and such stalwarts as Alan Wickham, Harry Brown, Norman Long, Geoff Sowden, Dave Shepherd, Tony Coe, Vic Ash and the late, great Don Lusher can all be heard in fine form. 28 lively numbers. Digby Fairweather's note incorporates personal reminiscences from no fewer than three of the original musicians Skrimshire, Wickham and Shepherd! |
