This wild band is the Italian answer to the New York downtown scene. Led by the saxophonist Carlo Actis Dato, Actis Band combines avant garde jazz solos and funky, upbeat rock while covering a vast stylistic ground. Massimo Rossi alto, soprano saxes, Antonio Fontana guitar, Federico Marchesano bass, Dario Bruno drums and Carlo Actis Dato tenor and baristone saxes, bass clarinet manage to create a surprisingly tight patchwork of contrasting musical traditions. |
