MILES DAVIS / TADD DAMERON
PARIS FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ | |
Description:
The Miles Davis and Tadd Dameron quintet was organized for a festival in Europe. Charles Delaunay, the principal organizer of Le Festival de jazz 1949, had arranged for the Charlie Parker quintet to headline the festival along with Sidney Bechet's band. Tadd Dameron and Miles Davis were invited to share the billing, and they put together a quintet that was a cross between a pick up group and a set band. Davis and Dameron chose Kenny Clarke from Dameron's big ten, giving the group a core of players whose names were well known to european jaz buffs. |
