JIMMY DORSEY

HIS ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS

THE FABULOUS JIMMY DORSEY

Description:
After Tommy Dorsey's death in 1956, Jimmy Dorsey took over his orchestra, although it turned out that he himself was dying from cancer. Ironically JD's final recording date resulted in his first hit in over a decade, "So Rare." Dorsey's alto is actually only heard on four of the 13 selections on this CD; after he passed away trumpeter Lee Castle took over the band and altoist Dick Stabile filled in on the remaining selections.
