Since its Broadway opening in 1926, The Desert Song continues to delight audiences not only through countless stage productions but also through the movies and television. The recording presented here is one of the most complete ever made. Recorded in stereo in the early fifties, several years passed before the full stereo recording was released. And now for the first time it is available, digitally remastered, on CD with the full magnificence of its wonderful score and performances realized. The lead roles of Pierre and Margot are taken by Nelson Eddy and Doretta Morrow, both in splendid voice. Ably supported by other talented soloists, and orchestra and chorus under the baton of Lehman Engel they make this new release a treasure for any lover of musical theatre. The six bonus tracks feature Nelson Eddy and Doretta Morrow in solos, among the latter's the beautiful 'My Ship', which has never before been released. Previously unreleased also are the three stereo numbers from Nelson Eddy, taken from his 1959 album made with his erstwhile partner Jeanette MacDonald. In stereo.
