THE COMPLETE BALBOA JAZZ CLUB PERFORMANCES

Description:
Bill Evans traveled to Madrid, Spain, toplay three nights at a small venue called the Balboa Jazz Club. One of those magic nights was recorded and appears here in its entirety. The music from the December 12, 1979 Balboa concert was privately recorded and the sound quality leaves much to be desired. However, the music has been reprocessed and sounds better here than on any previous release. On the original LP release of the Madrid concert, J.L. Cano stated the following: "It wasn't a big place, far from it, but it certainly had a nice cosy feel to it. It was plumb in the centre of the Spanish capital, in a narrow street off the one named after the great painter Goya. Down a flight of steps, a small lobby, and one was already into the club, a slim rectangular shaped room. The bar was immediately to the left, and comfortable chairs, tables, divans and pouffes were spread around in a seemingly casual way that made one feel at ease, almost at home."
