2 CD Set. Throughout the 1950s, Tal Farlow dominated modern jazz guitar. Self taught, Farlow quickly became revered for his adventurous sense of harmony and a breathtaking virtuosic technique which earned him the nickname 'The Octopus' due to his large hands and long fingers. Farlow first captured the public's attention as one third of vibraphonist Red Norvo's Trio the other member was Charles Mingus. In 1953 farlow went solo producing recordings of outstanding quality. This 2 CD set comprises Farlow in Los Angeles fronting some of that city's finest. By way of bonus tracks are included featuring the Red Norvo Trio at its creative peak.
