THE MANY FACES OF ART FARMER

Description:
As a bonus to this outstanding album, which appears here for the first time on CD, another equally rare LP has been added. Although this selection of tunes from Gershwin's "Porgy And Bess" was arranged by guitarist Mundell Lowe and originally released under his name, both Art Farmer and Ben Webster shine on it as featured soloists. The session's only other horn player was clarinetist Tony Scott, who also plays baritone sax here. Even though three of the other selections on this CD showcase Lowe's guitar without the horns Gambit has decided to include them here in order to present the complete LP.
