Laika Fatien has become one of the very few pure jazz vocal artists in recent times to have broken out of Europe. Her debut album, "Look At Me Now!," was initially released by the fledgling Body & Soul label in her native France and went on to garner great critical acclaim and commercial acceptance. It's a Gold award winner there and, as a result, Laika has come to be known as a one of the great jazz vocalists of the era. It was later released throughout Europe and achieved similar success in the U.K. and Spain. Now her CD is finally being released in the U.S. The album was recorded live, and Laika is backed by a seasoned acoustic quintet. |
