Description:
Volume 8 of the complete recordings of Slim Gaillard includes the remaining sessions he made for Norgran Verve. His collaboration with Norman Granz had begun with Gaillard's appearance at a Jazz at the Philharmonic concert in February 1946. On the opening "For You" and some of the ensuing tracks Gaillard croons la Billy Eckstine. In addition to his vocals, Gaillard reveals himself to be a highly gifted guitarist. The star soloists that appear here and there seemed to have enjoyed these dates.
