JOHN GILLDIXIELAND SERENADERS
LOOKING FOR A LITTLE BLUEBIRD | |
Description:
Stomp Off is proud to have been involved in the formation of this band which, under the leadership of multi instrumentalist, arranger and musicologist John Gill, played to very enthusiastic audiences at the 1995 Concord and San Diego jazz festivals. A look at the standout traditional jazz musicians who make up the Serenaders can give you a hint as to how good this band is; but what cannot be anticipated is the power of their integrated ensemble. They sound like a band from an earlier time in higher fidelity, of course, conveying to the listener an emotional impact reminiscent of King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band and Lu Watter' Yerba Buena Jazz Band. |
