This is such a terrific band. The Serenaders, who alternate true first and second trumpet parts in the manner of King Oliver and Louis Armstrong in King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, generate the power of Lu Watters' Yerba Buena Jazz Band but are distinctively different as the result of the considerable influences derived from earlier vintage jazz greats including Johnny Dodds and Jelly Roll Morton as well as Oliver and Armstrong.
