This CD is in many ways a tribute to the legendary Turk Murphy, one of the founding important influences on west coast jazz, who came out of the great Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band. John Gill worked with the Turk Murphy Jazz Band for many years until shortly before Turk's death. His respect and devotion to Turk and this exciting style of jazz is quite evident in this session. Featuring ex members of Murphy's Jazz Band.
