JIMMY GIUFFRE
THE TRAIN AND THE RIVER | |
Description:
An integral player in the so called "West Coast Jazz" movement, Jimmy Giuffre played and recorded with the Lighthouse All Stars, the Shorty Rogers Giants, and many other top players on the Coast during those Halcyon days and was an accomplished artist on both tenor saxophone and clarinet. In 1956, he created the Jimmy Giuffre 3 with guitarist Jim Hall and bassist Ralph Pena. This was the period in which Giuffre wrote the tune for which he is best renowned "The Train and The River" captured on this classic 1975 session. His style has remained virtually unchanged over the decades. This has been digitally remastered for CD release. |
