BENNY GOODMAN

HIS ORCHESTRA

A JOURNEY TO A STAR

Description:
This unusual album charts the progress of the Benny Goodman Orchestra, with its greatest stars, from the time the swing era was created, some say by Benny himself, when he was crowned the King Of Swing up to the peak of its popularity in 1946. All of the recordings are "live," capturing the excitement and spontaneity of these rarely heard recordings. Benny always attracted the best musicians and a perusal of the featured artists above show that many of them rivalled Benny in popularity and many of which went on to form their own successful bands. An added bonus is the inclusion of vocalists Martha Tilton and Helen Ward. Features: Harry James, Lionel Hampton, Jess Stacy, Vido Musso, Teddy Wilson and Ziggy Elman.
