WOODY HERMAN

THE BAND THAT PLAYS THE BLUES & THE THIRD HERD

Description:
CD contains 3 superb Herman broadcast snapshots in sound. The first comes from the Meadowbrook, Cedar Grove, N.J. in 1939 during the days of his early success. The other two are from the Third Herd days in the middle of his career when he was touring clubs & ballrooms, including the Cafe Rouge, Hotel Statler in NYC in 1952, and the Royal Grove, Peany Park, Omaha in 1954. Plenty of vintage Woody on clarinet with fine swing arrangements.
