Here's a rare treat for jazz lovers and a collectable item for classics enthusiasts. This CD features two 'live' radio recordings by the Woody Herman Orchestra at the Casino Gardens, Ocean Park, CA in 1946 and the CBS Columbia Workshop, L.A., CA on the Aug. 19th, 1946. Most notable on this recording is the rare interview with the noted composer Igor Stravinsky who talks about the "Ebony Concerto" which he composed especially for Woody Herman. This is immediately followed by a performance of the piece conducted by the great man himself. The star studded line up: Sonny Berman, Cappy Lewis, Pete Candoli; Shorty Rogers; Ralph Pfeffner, Bill Harris, Sam Morowitz, John La Porta, Flip Phillips, Sam Rabinowitz, John Cave, Jimmy Rowles, Chuck Wayne, Joe Mondragon and Don Lamond.
