Latin American bandleader and pianist Roberto Inglez was in fact Scotsman Boli Inglis, yet he made an enormous impression on the popular dance music scene of the late '40s and early '50s when Latin rhythms were all the rage. The Inglez blend of clear, one finger piano leading lush strings in subtle Latin rhythms is heard at its most beguiling on this CD. Features the Latin favorite "Tico Tico" and four numbers by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, as well as Inglez' versions of great standards. |
