On page seven of the Feb. 22, 1956 issue of Downbeat magazine, the headline read "James Disbands; Forms 9 piece All Star Group". This action was mainly dictated by the continuing prohibitive road costs of leading a 16 piece big band with diminishing ballroom returns. Featured in the new band were Nick Buono, Corky Corcoran, Herbie Steward, Willie Smith, Herb Lorden, Buddy Rich and others. This second volume completes the entire recorded catalog of Harry James & His New Jazz Band.
