HARRY JAMES

TRUMPET TIME

Description:
James' new musical approach in the 1940's ensured his star was back in the ascendant during the year following Sinatra's departure, when in 1941 the trumpeter and his band signed with Columbia. The accent now was on material of a sweet and sentimental nature, giving his band a far broader commercial appeal, and the effect of this change of direction was as staggering as it was almost instantaneous.
