The classic jump music he made from the late '30s to the early '50s for Decca Records not only laid the basis for rock 'n roll and fifties R&B, he was also immensely popular at the time with an amazing 53 Top 10 R&B hits from 1942 to 1951. This new collection gathers the most successful recordings by him from the 1940s all 18 of his 1s, all songs that have stood the test of time and are still being covered by today's recording artists.
