Description:
Max Kaminsky led a long and varied life in jazz, playing at one time or another with the greatest musicians in jazz history. He began this jazz journey at the Shawmut Theatre in Roxbury Massachusetts when he was 13 in 1921. This collection begins with 1942 recordings with Brad Gowans, Pee Wee Russell, Joe Sullivan, Eddie Condon, Al Morgan and George Wettling and concludes with 1962 recordings during a period when he led the band on board the 'Great Gleason Train,' which Jackie Gleason commissioned to travel across country to promote his tv show. |
