KANSAS CITY JAZZ

Description:
Kansas City was the hometown of the 'serious' composer Virgil Thomson and was where ragtime pianist James Scott also resided. Then, the blues cruised down the waterways to be rapidly snatched up and modelled by the local musicians. Local groups often played in neighbouring states and those from neighbouring states or towns were always welcomed in Kansas City during its golden days from 1920 1938. We must therefore point out that the style of this twenty year period was not restricted to just Kansas City, but to a vast region, the South West. This explains why many discs were recorded in other agglomerations.
