This is the most worthwhile CD representation yet issued of the enjoyable music of 'sweet' bandleader Art Kassel. Chicago born Art Kassel 1896 1965 was one of the favourites among the great American 'sweet' bands of the 30s and 40s, alongside such as Guy Lombardo and Jan Garber. The tenor sax playing composer and leader of the 'Kassels in the Air' enjoyed a string of chart successes, and still has quite a following. Music, Maestro, Please, the title of Living Era compilation's, was the biggest of nine chart hits contained in a 'sweet' sequence of 26 tracks covering the best of the band's output. Other Top Tens were Kassel's own Hell's Bells, Moon Song and The One Rose. The whole programme evokes the nostalgic spirit of 30s and 40s music. Despite his earlier popularity, Art Kassel is barely represented in the current catalog.
