Live at the Holiday Ballroom, Chicago. This marvelous one night stand, recorded at Chicago's Holiday Ballroom, on October 10, 1958, beautifully recreates one of those occasions that were such a vital part of the jazz scene during the reign of the big bands. It may have been music on the hoof, but the flash, the sensuous thrust of the great Kenton orchestra has never sounded better. This new CD, lovingly produced by John Loeffler from live tapes made by John Gill who used facilities supplied by Dan Belloc, captures the moment.
