The title of this album is an apt description of any Kenton performance, whether it was on a dance date or on a concert platform, because a Kenton appearance always consisted of a mixture of his old favorites with newer compositions, many of which would be played only a few times & many more which would never be given the benefit of a studio recording. The 18 tracks presented here come from 18 separate concerts. Issued on 17 previous Status CDs, this compilation gives a chronological overview of his career. One track, "Mack The Knife," has never before been released on CD. |
