In 1957, Stan Kenton brought his orchestra back to the Rendezvous Ballroom in Balboa Beach, California, the site of the band's first success 17 years earlier. Capital set up recording equipment there and recorded this album without an audience over two afternoons. The majority of the arrangements are by the incredible Johnny Richards although Marty Paich contributed two and Bill Holman one. Added to the original album, which appears on CD for the first time, are four tracks from Rendezvous With Kenton, recorded at the ballroom three months earlier.
