STAN KENTON

Description:
Volume 10 of Stan Kenton's complete studio recordings presented in chronological order, opens with the remaining tracks made in March 1952. The ambitious and extended "Prologue" is followed by one of several tunes William Russo had composed for individual members of the band. Kenton's music was capable of blending seemingly conflicting approaches. The tracks made in January, 1953 clearly reveal, what Kenton had in mind in his opening statement quoted above. These tracks are easily approachable big band jazz swinging in a somewhat different way but fine music. To be continued...
