Description:
There is no working jazz band today quite like Le Petit Jazzband of France. Le Petit's direct, stomping rhythm is borne from the groups both black and white that existed from New York to Los Angeles and many points in between during the middle to late 1920's. On top of this rhythm, Le Petit Jazzband demonstrates a firm, knowledgable grasp on the styles of the 1920's while avoiding the uncreative pitfalls of blatantly copying famous musicians of the period. Clarinetist Alain Marquet has been compared to past greats Johnny Dodds and Sidney Bechet, and all of the players has the creative musicianship to improvise his own ideas within this idiom and the technical musicianship to perform in expert and sometimes dazzling fashion.
