RICHARD MALTBYAND HIS ORCHESTRA
MANHATTAN BANDSTAND | |
Description:
In 1945 a steady job in radio in New York tempted Richard away from the Goodman Orchestra and for eight years he arranged and wrote for many singers and bands, notably Sarah Vaughan. The early nineteen fifties was a busy time in the recording industry and straight ahead dance bands were popular, so RCA recorded the Richard Maltby Orchestra on its X and Vik labels. Richard Maltby died in 1991. For Big Band collectors these are rare not to be missed recordings. |
