Description:
The colorful idiosyncratic sounds created by Henry Mancini, titan of film, television and popular music, are as much a part o the twentieth century as rock'n' roll, the Lennon and McCartney partnership, jazz and the great American songbook. Indeed Mancini's vast body of work is linked inextricably with both jazz and the American songbook. He constantly looked to the former for inspiration, and whilst not a jazz composer per se by definition, commercial arranger composers such as Mancini find themselves operating in a variety of contexts his love and understanding of the genre saw him incorporate it into what he wrote for both the big and smalls screen. |
