This outstanding release includes all of the session from New York's Academy Of Music and studio sessions from March 3, 1956 through December 31, 1956 providing the most complete Hal McKusick anthology to date. This double CD also includes Hal McKusick's complete quartet recordings with the incomparable rhythm session of Barry Galbraigh, Milt Hinton and Osie Johnson, as well as numerous arrangements and compositions by George Russell, Manny Albam, Al Cohn, Johnny Mandel, Jimmy Giuffere and Gil Evans. George Russell's compositions 'Lydian Lullaby, 'Miss Clara' and 'The Day John Brown Was Hanged' have been omitted from this edition due to the fact that they will appear on a subsequent release by George Russell 'The Complete Bluebird Recordings'.
