PLAYS THE MUSIC OF MARY LOU WILLIAMS | |
Description:
Marian McPartland is a beloved jazz institution whose performing roots date back to the WWII years in Europe, where she met and married cornetist Jimmy McPartland. By the '50s, she was successfully leading her own trio in New York clubs. A highly sensitive pianist who has never stopped appreciating and assimilating new ideas, McPartland has a highly diverse range of tastes and passions that have been amply displayed on her popular NPR program "Piano Jazz," not to mention a series of consistently beautiful albums which span the last three decades of the 20th century. |
