MISSING CHAPTERS, VOLUME 4: RED ARMY MARCH

Description:
Material from broadcasts from the Olympia Theatre, Paris January September. Glenn Miller disappeared December 15, 1944. The music contained in this issue is all taken from Olympia Theatre, Paris broadcasts. Some points of interest regrding these performances here: 4th June; Moonlight Serenade, Glenn Miller's famous theme, is followed by Bill Finegan's marvellous arrangement made for Glenn's civilian band of Song Of The Volga Boatmen. Now a standard for jazz musicians Laura is sung by Johnny Desmond after which the band really swings into Jerry Gray's arrangement of Get Happy. The next titles are the first half of a medley; the old tune Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes really is old, dating back two hundred years or more. The new song, written in 1944 by Jules Stein and Sammy Cahn, There Goes That Song Again, is sung by Johnny Desmond. the second half of this medley is taken from a recording of 3rd April.
