GLENN MILLER

AND THE AMERICAN BAND OF THE AEF

THE WEHRMACHT HOUR

Description:
During 1944 Major Glenn Miller and the AEF band made a number of recordings for the Office Of War Information OWI to be broadcast over the American Broadcasting Station in Europe ABSIE and unlike the moral boosting shows that the band usually performed for the allied troops these recordings were made specifically as part of propaganda broadcasts to the German people. The compere spoke German throughout the broadcasts and vocalists Johnny Desmond and Irene Manning were also required to sing in German. This CD makes an interesting addition to any Big Band collectors library and ties in nicely with a new book about to be published regarding the surmised disappearance of Glenn Miller.
